The Science Department consists of a large number of highly dedicated, NYS certified teachers. In the Middle School students study material from the Life Sciences and the Physical Sciences. The approach is an integrated one that seeks to show students how the natural laws of science apply across the curricular areas. Students accepted to our accelerated program begin their study of high school science in the 8th grade with the Regents course in Living Environment: Biology.
The High School department offers classes in all four Regents subjects (Earth Science, Living Environment, Chemistry, Physics) as well as electives in Environmental Chemistry, Marine Biology, and Oceanography. In addition Washingtonville HS offers college and Advanced Placement courses in Forensics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science.
