MathThe study and mastery of Mathematics has been recognized as essential to success in college and in the world of work. The Math programs offered by the Washingtonville Central School District provide a wide variety of experiences designed to prepare students for success in their future.

The Middle School has adopted the textbook series published by Holt, Rinehart and Winston which is aligned to the New York State standards.  As students become familiar with the text format of clearly stepped-out examples, multiple representations of math concepts and on-line resources, their comfort level will increase and help students to achieve mathematics mastery.  Accelerated Middle School students receive additional instruction in the 7th grade to prepare them for entry into the high school Regents Algebra program they will experience in their 8th grade math class.

In the High School students learn the skills and concepts that will allow them to pass the NYS Regents Algebra assessment. Students then continue with their math education by taking courses in Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, Computer Science, or Technical Math. In addition students who are looking to apply to competitive college programs will take courses in Calculus Prep, College Computer Programming, or Advanced Placement Calculus.
